Press Release - 9/24/07

The words “pranayama” or “asana” may not mean much to most people, but to anyone who practices yoga, they are familiar words and are now heard at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association with the addition of a beginning yoga class as a special course offering this fall.

“Basic Yoga” is a six-week class which started this October and runs on Tuesday evenings. The instructor for the course is Jodi Augustine Bukky, CYT (Certified Yoga Therapist). Bukky is a registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapist with ten years teaching experience. She is certified in Thai Yoga Massage through Lotus Palm in Toronto and is also certified in Polarity, Reflexology and Swedish massage from the Cleveland School of Massage. Bukky is a Reiki Master and owns and operates Now & Zen Wellness Studio in Harpersfield.

“Yoga is an ongoing exploration of how we move through life and brings numerous benefits to mind and body”, said Bukky. “Yoga improves muscle tone, strength, flexibility and reduces joint stiffness. It improves posture, increases lung capacity and releases tension allowing for deeper relaxation. In this new class at Rabbit Run, I will work individually with students to help them clear their physical, emotional and spiritual blocks through the therapeutic union of asana (body postures), pranayama (breathing) and meditation.”

“Basic Yoga” has met with immediate success, and this first class is filled to capacity. The class will continue throughout the year and consideration is being given to adding an intermediate yoga class. Keep an eye on our website or call the RRCAA office for registration information for upcoming yoga sessions.
