FOLK ART PAPER QUILT  (K – 3rd grade)
This class is an introduction to printing and quilts and their connection to the underground railroad.  Traditional African American quilt designs and other African design sources will inspire students as they create their own work of art.

PAINTING THE MASTERS  (K - 3rd and 4th - 8th grade)
Learn to paint creating a “masterpiece” of your own.  Each week students will explore a new artist as they delve into the world of painting.
MONDAY:  5:00 - 6:00 p.m. (K – 3rd grade); 6:30-7:30 p.m. (4th – 8th grade)
Sept. 27 – Nov. 1  (6 weeks)

MIXED MEDIA EXPLORATIONS  (K - 3rd and 4th - 8th grade)
This class is a wonderful chance to discover lots of new materials to create ethnic tribal and folk art.  Students will create both two and three-dimensional pieces of art.
MONDAY:  5:00 – 6:00 p.m. (K – 3rd grade)  or  6:30 - 7:30 p.m. (4th – 8th grade)
Feb. 14 - April 11; no class Feb. 21  (6 weeks)

FOLK ART QUILT  (4th – 8th grade)
Youth will use fabric and paint to create a small memory quilt wall hanging.  They will learn fabric painting and stamping and will also be introduced to sewing basics and finishing techniques.

STAINED GLASS PANEL  (Adults)
Create a stained glass panel using the Tiffany method of construction.  Artists will begin with a small sun catcher for the first project to learn the basics and move on to creating a beautiful stained glass panel.  Students must furnish glass for the second project only.

MOSAIC CHRISTMAS TREE  (Adults)
Learn the basics of 3-D mosaics to create a stained glass tree for a gift or to enjoy for years to come.

SILK PAINTING  (Adults)
Create your own beautiful design on an 11 x 60 inch china (habotai) silk scarf.
All are welcome, no artistic ability necessary.

INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING  (Adults)
An introductory class to learn the basics of drawing using line, value, and texture.  Artists will experiment with several mediums including pencil, pen, charcoal and pastels.

MOSAIC STEPPING STONE  (Adults)
A two-hour workshop in which students design and create a stained glass and mosaic stepping stone for the garden to enjoy for years to come.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 4,  6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Class fee:  $18 non-member; $16 member  (material fee - $5)

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY . . . from the very beginning  (19 yrs & up)
Students will gain an understanding of fundamentals such as ISO, shutter speed, and f stops and how they relate to create a proper exposure.  Involves some outdoor class time; dress for weather.

BEG. GLASS BEAD LAMPWORKING  (Adults)
Learn the basics of lampworking techniques and how to create wearable glass art.  Safety will be stressed along with techniques and the physics of molten glass.  Use fire on a small scale to build beads.

MAY 14 & 21, 10:00 a.m. - noon
Location:  Rabbit Run Theater patio
Class fee:  $70 (material fee:  individual glass rods available for $1.25/ea.)
Special Dress Requirements:  Wear jeans or heavy pants.  No shorts or open toe shoes.  Wear flannel, wool or cotton--no polyester or fleece.  Long hair should be pulled back.
Supplies needed:  Hot head torch, map gas canisters, Didymium safety glasses, glass rods, mandrels, bead release, ceramic fiber blanket.  Kits are available for sale for $110.
